The PSA must be completed before you can apply for the JRP.
PSA will verify your:
- identity
- Australian qualifications
If your assessment is successful, the outcome letter can be used to apply to Home Affairs for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485). A successful PSA outcome also means you meet the pre-requisite requirement to participate in the JRP.
Your PSA outcome is valid for 3 years from date of issue. You must submit your JRP application within the valid period.

To apply for the Provisional Skills Assessment (PSA), you must have:
- a current and valid passport
- an Australian qualification directly relevant to the occupation you are applying for.
This qualification must be from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)

Gather and scan documents
Please see Section 1.4.3 Decision Ready Application and Section 2.2 Application documents of the PSA Applicant Guidelines.
Register through our online portal
You will need to register and create a password.
Once you register, your username displays at the top of the screen. Your username is also emailed to you. Make sure you keep a record of your username and password, as you will need it to login.
You will need access to your Registered Email Address for mandatory multifactor authentication.
You can then apply for the Provisional Skills Assessment through the Online Portal.
Complete your application
You will need your:
- current passport identification page
- if you completed the qualification under a different passport, a copy of that passport’s identification page
- personal details
- evidence of name changes to address any naming inconsistencies in the documents submitted
- nominated occupation
- the full qualification details including your Certificate and your Record of Results showing the commencement and completion dates.
To submit your application, you need to:
- upload full colour scans of all the required original documents in PDF format
- pay the fee.
You cannot change or view your application once you have submitted it.
TRA does not accept applications sent by email.
Outcome
TRA will email you the outcome of your Provisional Skills Assessment application.
Successful outcome
If your assessment is successful, the outcome letter can be used to apply to Home Affairs for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485). A successful PSA outcome also means you meet the pre-requisite requirement to participate in the JRP.
Unsuccessful outcome
If your application is unsuccessful, the outcome letter will provide you with the reasons for the outcome and information about your options. You can apply for a review or make a new PSA application.
